In the above picture is shown in a picturesque setting the old Wairakei Hotel. In actual fact this hostelry was preceded by a resort known as the "White House," which was built by an ancestor of the Graham family of Wairakei, Mr Robert Graham, well known in the early days of N.Z. Colonial history as Superintendent of the Auckland Province in the period of provincial governments. The hotel in later years became known as the Geyser House Hotel. Today it is styled "Hotel Wairakei," and State owned.
