A letter was received from the Businessmen's Association with reference to their collecting funds towards the expenses account for the campaign and for the Carnival fortnight and objecting to the comhiittee suggesting amounts that should be contributed by the various business organisations. The Organiser, Mr J. D. Swan stated that the Businessmen's Associatiotis had received a wrong impression. It was never intended that the businessmen should be set individual targets, the position being as follows: — That there must of necessity be expenses such as printing, postage, advertising, etc., and these expenses could not be deducted from subscriptions made direct to the Hall Fund and published in the Paper, and it had thereford becn suggested that the businessmen's elfort should be to raise between them the sum of £250, to cover such expenses. Any surplus not used by way of expenses would go into the Memorial Hall Fund at the end of the Campaign. It was moved and seconded that in the event of the Businessmen not raising the necessary funds organisation expenses of the Carnival be paid out of the General Funds. .(Since this meeting the Businessmen's Association has agreed to endeavour to raise the necessary expenses). The organiser pointed out that all the suggested targets to be raised by the various organisations and the respective functions to be held durinsr the Carnival were all tentative oand merely suggestions, and subject to confirmation by the various organisations concerned. This body will be known as the Taupo Fun Entertainers, and will be controlled by the 'Fun' doctors.
Their first job will be to book several performances on behalf of the Memorial Hall Campaign during the holiday season. Some publicity will be given outside on the entertainments, inviting visiting artists to send their names in for complimentary items. "These doctors will have one purpose, and that is to provide entertainment both inside and out for the leisure-ininded public. One or two more versatile men are needed to make up the team. Any interested please get in touch with Mrs Sally Kent, who will tell them how to contact Mr E. Marsden."
