Escaped Prisoner Raids Cottage

When they arrived at their holiday cottage at Turangi last week Mr and Mrs A. J. Coleman of Wellington re~ ceived a shock to find that their cottage had been occupied in their ab~ sence. A wireless set and a battery as well as clothing and other items, were missing and prison garb had been left behind. The garb has been identified as belonging to an habituai criminal who escaped ahout a month ago from Rangipo prison cahip, and he is also suspected as being responsible for the disappearance of a car recently stolen from Rotorua. The escaped prisoner had gained entrance both to this cottage and to j the neighbouring cottage of Mr IL Findlay of Masterton, by breaking the windows. 4> i
