j NEWS AND NOTES J (Taupo War Memorial Hall ] Association.) j The following is the weekly bjulletin of news and notes contiibuted by the organisers of the cjampaign to raise the balance of tjho rriorey required for the erection and funiishing of the Taupo War Memorial Hall: — j Rotorua hopes to raise £24,000 for iheir memorial. Tauranga hopes po raise £40,000 for their Memorial. jSurely we in Taupo can raise £4,000 /for ours , The above association is not only \to raise money to build a hall. It ^vill also run a two-weeks Carnival tover the Christmas and New Year lholidays, which it is hopedr will lpave the effect of advertising Taupo &nd attracting additional people, thus increasing the turnjover of the business community. We !>vould like to form the following: — j 1. — A Girls Marching Team. i 2.— A Dramatic Society. I 3 . — An Orchestra and an Enter- | tainment Company which could ! put on a Vaudeville Show. If the above can be formed they wotild all give performances during the Carnival Fortnight. j Anyone desiring to take part in my of the above please send name and •address to Mrs Sally Kent, honorary jsecretary, stating which he ' or she jwould like to go in for; and as far as the vaudeville and orchestra are lconcerned what he or she can do. If any Organisation or body of residehts desire to hold any function tio raise funds for the ball will be pleased. to attend to give assistance if requested. The Org*aniser would be pleased to yeceive any suggestion on new ways to raise money. . Sesidents please adopt the slogan: *4Hall by Christmas.,> If everyone thinks and works in this direction the hall will be an accomplished fact. Those not in favour of the scheme please help those who are by not talking against it.
