Oganisation Set Up At a meeting held 011 July , 23, steps were taken to set up a permanent organisation for the first Taupo Girl Guides' Association. Two days prior to the meeting advice was received from the Distiict Girl Guides' Commissioner (Mrs George, of Rotorua), that she would be able to attend and assist in the organisation of the Association. At the meeting the Commissioner explained that according to Headquarters' regulations it would be necessary to set up separate Associations for the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts respectively. She could therefore, deal only with the motheis concerning the Girl Guides. The District Commlssion of Boy Scouts (Mr Thomas, of Rotorua ). de~l with is side of the business for the Taupo Boy Scouts' Association. Following these preliminaries the meeting decided to form a large Association of leading citizens, with an executive selected from their number. It was felt that the Association as a whole should meet at threemonthly intervals, and the executive at least monthly, seven days notice to be given of all meetings, and the chairman of the committee, at his discretion, could also convene meetings when necessity arose. All these decisions were agreed to unanimously. The following were elected to the membership of the Taupo Girl Guides' Local Association, with power to add to their number: — President, Mr J. Story. Vice-presidents, Mesdames G. Shepherd, J. Taylor snr., D. Redwood, S. Gillies snr., A. J. Burleigh, and Miss E Rickit; Messrs C. Thomas (chairman), H. Hill, Les Haines, E. Painton, W. Price and G. Fraser. Miss E. Rickit was elected an honorary member in appreciation of her interest in and support of the movelent over a period of 25 years. Members, Mesdames Watson, C. Thomas, D. B. Donnelly, A. Kennedy, Lieut. Snooks, Lieut. Thompson, Lieut. Tierney, A. Graham, J. Story, K. Reid, Hough, and Miss Wehringo; Messrs Osborne, Killford, Kennedy, Torepe, Baumberg, Armstrong, R. H. Ward, Dr. Richards, A. Graham, R. Beale, J. Woodward, W. Harding and N. A. Duthie. Executive committee. — Patron, Colonel J. D. Swan, O.B.E., J.P.; chairman; Mr C. Thomas; secretary-treas-urer, Mr J. W. Peart; assistant secretary, D. Redwood; auditor, J. 1 W oodward ; and the following memi bers: Miss E. Rickit, Mis uonneiiy, Mrs Thomas and Mr Osborne. The financial year was fixed at as from July 1st to June 30th annually, and the subscription at 5/- per annum. The report of the Captain (Mrs Peart), as published iast week, was read and adopted. The chairman, Mr Thomas, said he had visited the girls at their company meejipg the previous week and considered that their progress was most gratifylng. Ordinary committee business was next dealt with, and delegates selected to represent the associaticn at the War Memorial Hall meeting. Present at the meeting were the new Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster, who were introduced. Testers were selected for the Girl Guide badges. Thomas), thanked the Commissioner (Mrs George), for attendance and assistance. He felt that from then | on the Taupo Girl Guide organisaition would run very smoothly (applause). It has been decided to organise a "Bring and Buy" for August 16 next, and all concerned are looking forward to raising funds for what was unanimously agreed to be a worthy j cause.
