ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH
Annual General Meeting A very well attended and enthusiastic meeting of the members of St. Andrew's Church of England was held in Rickit'S Hall on July 23. The Venerable Archdeacon R. Hodgson, from Rotorua, took the chair. He heartily eongratulated the members on the steady growth and progress of the Church in Taupo, and upon the very satisfactory state of its finances, Particularly, he said, he was impressed by the happy family spirit? and the excellent work of the Ladies' Guild. He also thanked the members for their very generous gifts to Missions and the general work of the Church in the Province. He had always noted, he said, that a parish which gives freely of its means to the general work of the Church prospers in its own sphere. Mr G. Anchor, reporting' on the Hall. Building Fund, said there was now a foalance in hand of over £300, and there was mofe in view which would come in as soon as some satisfactory arrangement could be made for guarantorship. This matter would have to be left in the hands of the committee and it was believed that suitable arrangements could be made with 'thb; Rdt;qfeua Vdstfy. Mrs G. Tayl'or rfead a very grgtifying report of the work of the Ladiefc' Guild for the year, and showed the Guildls funds to be in a very lieai'thy condition.. > • The following were elected to the committee for the current financial yeaiy with power to add to 'their numbers: Miss E. Rickit and Messrs G. Anchor, G. Patchet, W. Ogston, G, Curry and C. Thomas. After the meeting closed, the ladies provided a very appetising afternoon tea, and the meeting dis-: persed in excellent humour.
