Taupo Hydro-Electricity Scheme
A PROGRESS REPORT Reporting* to the Taupo Town Board at its meeting on Wednesday. last, July 16, the chairman of works (Mr J. E. Story), stated that progress on the Taupo Hydro Works: at Hatepe had been slowed down owing to the wet weather, but was now going ahead. Grouting and stiffening of the rock formation below the Dam has pcoceeded according to the specifJcations. The foundations for the
first Unit are completecl, also the extension walls of the building. The Access Road to the Hydro site he addcd, has reqai/ed a fair amount of work to keep ?.t open and is r\'\v in a much improved conditon, Fumice surfacing of sections will be required. The grader had to be diverted to this road for a week, the rest of the period being spent on the Town roads and streets. The grouting pipes that were left in the lower section of the dam and covered by flood water, have now been exposed, and grouting completed. The diversion pipes can now be lifted.
