Kevan East, of Taupo, displays a 8-point head after a successful stalk in the Kaimanawa Bush. Deer-stalking may be "open," over country affording very little cover, and calling for a cautious approach up-wind. In bush stalking craft of a different kind is required. Mr East found Japanese deer very plentiful. They are smaller than the Red deer. On his last outing he had as company his friend, Allan Rose, and Mrs T. Price, who was keenly anxious to get some first hand impression of the magnificent bush and also to see a display of woodcraft by the two young men.
