THE NEW DOMAIN CAMP
AREA OF 11 ACRES IN - PREPARATION •In the report of the last meeting of the Taupo Town Board there is a brief reference to the progress of the work of lpaking a new Domain camping site in the area adjacent to the Public Works camp. The Times was shown over the site last week by the chairman of the Town Board, Mr J. E. Story. Judging by the amount of work that already has been accomplished the new site should be well advanced for the reception of visitors. Trees had to be felled, a thick growth of blackberry had to be dealt with, and the whole area, compri&ing about 11 acres discer on preparation for levelling. Several of the old fruit trees planted in the early days by the Armed Constabularly, then quartered
in the area, have been left standing affording shelter and shade. From the north end of the cleared space it will be possible to have a charming view of the wharf, and a peep of the lake beyond. While the Public Works camp remains, a temporary access will be necessary from the northern end. Eventually however, there will be a pleasant parade along the waterfront -from the wharf, now being* extended (see picture in this issue), to the naw domain.
