In the above picture may be seen the piles of the new breastwork for the improvement of Taupo Wharf. The area behind the piles will be filled in with spoil from the near-by bluff, and launch jetties will be run out from the breastwork into the river. In the foreground may be seen part of the new road which will run round the river's side from the wharf in the direction of the new domain and eventually provide a new access to it.
