REUNION
TAUPO R.S.A. The annual reunion of the Taupo R.S.A. was held in Rickit's Hall, on Saturday, April 26, and a most enjoyable evening was sperit by all. Music was ably provided by a trio consisting of Messrs Bill Stowe, Vic Wilson and Clem Currie, and this and vocal items and humorous stories kept things going with a swing A surprise item on the tin whistle by "Piccolo Pete" from Hastings was encored with gusto and his# imitation of the bagpipes will be long remembered by those present. ; During the "Roll Call" of the 60 odd present, it was remarkable t> note that as well as two members of the U.S. Forces, ovti 40 different units from Army, Navy and Air Force of both wars were represented. Several ex-servicemen from N ay- - ier and Hastings were present nnrl a rousing reception was given to a earload who had made the trip especicilly for the function. It was noted with regret that the passing years are taking their toll, as when the First War veterans were numbered they consisted of only eight. The local bodies were represented. The Toast List honoured was as follows: — The Queen. The Parent Body (H.Q.N.Z.R.S.A.), proposed by Presideait. First War Veterans, proposed G. Patchett, replied by Col. J. D. Swan. Second War Veterans, proposed by W. L. Fulljames, replied to by J. Watters, Maori Battalion, proposed by C. E. Baker, replied to by W. Mika. Fallen Comrad^s, proposed by A. P. Tierney. Annual General Meeting. At the R.S.A. annual general meeting there were present Messrs G. Patchett (chairman), W. L. Fulljames, W. Stone, W. Mika, J. Watters, V. Wilson, C. Currie, W; Marrett, A. Hills, P. Silva, C. Baker, J. D. -Swan, W. L. Haines, H. Riekard, R. H. Ward, H. Ken, G. Sutherland, W, G. Morris (acting secretary). Apologies were received from B. M. Armstrong and J. Greatorex and H. Moore-Jones. The outgoing president (M. G. Patchett) gave a report on the years activities and called on the actingsecretary to present the balance sheets for the year ending March 31, 1952. These as rea l were adopted. Mr Patchett referred to the passing of an Old Comrade Mr D. Hood, and the meeting stood ir silence as a mark of respect to hb memory. The election of ofbcers for 195253 was as follows: — President, Col. J. D. Swan O.B.E. Vice-president, W. G, Morriss, G. Patchett, W. L. Haines, C. E. Baker, W. L. Fulljames. Secretary, J. Greatorex. Treasurer, G. Patchett. Hon. auditor, J. Woodward. Committee J. Waters, R. H. Ward, W. Stone, W. Mika, P. W. Arnold, G. Sutherland, P. Silva, H. Riekard, J. Booth, B. M. Armstrong. Members are reminded to hand their names in to Mr Patchett if they wish to go to the annual Re-Union at Rotorua on Saturday, May 24. Veterans of 1914-18 War who are interested in a Re-Union Dinner are to 'communicate with Mr Harry Keen.
