BIGGER AND BETTER JEEPS

A new "jeep", larger and more powerful than the one which has proved so useful to American troops in defence of freedom throughout the world, will soon be produced by the United States Army. Longer and widjer than tihe currgnt model, and powered by a 72 instead of 60-horsepower engine, the new jeep has an economical fuel system and larger gasoline tank. These will increase its range from 180 to 300 miles without refueling. Special kits enable the new jeep to be adapted to arctic, desert, or water. Intake and exhaust tubes which allow the engine to "breathe" while submerged can be installed in a few minutes. By waterproofing the oil oreather and battery terniinals, the jeep is ready for use under wa> cr. New safety features inclnde improved brakes, flanged fenders to keep splashes of mud^from obstructing the driver's view, and a machine gun which gives the jeep's crew added protection. Plastic seats, larger springs, and improved shock absorbers increase riders' comfort. — Courtesy of the U.IS.A. Embassy, Wellington.
