The Taupo team set out, as usual in the rain, but contrary to past experience, there was no rain in Putaruru, and a very pleasant day was spent. The Putaruru team scored 17 matches to Taupo's 8, so Taupo has hopes of wresting the Shield from Putaruru, when their team visits Taupo, in October for the second match. The first of 4 rounds for the Neame Trophy was played by the ladies on Thursday, April 24. Following were the best scores handed in. Miss Branson, 32 points. Mrs Graham, 29 points.
