The Taupo Cricket Club held a meeting last week for the purpose of making necessary end-of-season arrangements. The matting which was used for all the home matches played last season and also for several of the away games as well as for practices by the players and sometimes by the Taupo School needs cutting and re-binding whilst further playing equipment will require to be purchased in order to cover the cost of this it is intended to hold a danlce on Sat urday, May 17, and the ladies are arranging a 'bring and buy' for later in the year. ifc SfC The Taupo Golf Club organised a delightful evening at their club house, and raised the sum of over £6 for the benefit of the Cricket Club. Their support in such a tangible form is naturally greatly appreciated by all cricketers, who are hoping that it will be possible to apply the proceeds towards the improvement of playing conditions. A discussion on playing conditions resul^ed in the passing of a resolution to the effeet, that the Club is anxious to assist in the provision of a first class cricket ground in Taupo, and that the Town Board be approached with. a view both to this aim and to carry out : some immediate improvements on the field. Messrs Patchett, Collett and Acres were appointed to act as a delegation to the Town Board on this matter. * & * Buckleighs new garage premises on the site of the old Bungalow Hotel will be the first ferro-concrete building to be erected in Taupo. Mr L. M. Ward is undertaking the work of construction and the building will be ready for occupation in July. The plans include service station, lubritorium, repair shops, modem ofiice, display room, lounge and rest rooms. New neon lighting effects are ako to be installed. * * * CORRECTION We regret that in our recent issues the address of Frost & England Ltd. in their advertisement appearing under the Turangi heading was inadvertently given as 'off the Main Road.' Actually, of course the premises of this firm, are situated right on the main road about three hpndred yards south of the Turangi Post Office which is alongside Taylor's Fishing Lodge. Frost and England Ltd. represent some of the best known fishing rod and equipment manufacturers in Britain Their rods are specially designed and built for New Zealand conditions.
