Lane ("Shangri La") departed last weqk for a complete tour of Ireland. * * * Miss Noeline Flight, who has completed her general nursing training at the Wanganui Hospital, is sp^nding a holiday with her parents Mr and Mrs Bon Flight T'aurangaT'aupo, before leaving for Rotorua to commence her Maternity Nursing Training. * # * Mrs E. Rickards of Taumaranui and her sister Mrs F. Barrett (Wellington) are enjoying a quiet holiday at their Motuopa Cottage. A surprise party descended upon the Vic Flights, on the evening of March 30, to farewell Pauline, who left her home to commence her nusing career at the Taumaranui Hospital on April 2. * * * Mrs S. Watt and two children Jocelyn and Lorraine have retufned to Devonport after a three weeks stay with her sister, Mrs Godfrey Taylor. * * ❖ Mr and Mrs J. L. Harvey of Stratford were recently the week-end guests of Mr and Mrs S. R. Crowther. * * * Gunner Franklin Reid is now spending his twelve days final leave in Taupo, prior to his departure for Korea. * * n * * Mr and Mrs W. P. Tierney who have been honeymooning in the South Island, have returned to Taupo. * * * * Mr D. Riley and Mrs Riley, who have been absent in Hawkes Bay for some time with their small son Jan, have returned to Taupo, where Mr Riley will resume his activities as a landscape gardener. * * * * St. ANDREW'S LADIES' GUILD St. Andrew's Ladies Guild held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 26, a good attendance of members being present. A letter of thanks for food parcels sent, was received from the Rev Dr Sanderson of Plymouth, England. Final arrangements were made for the sale of works which will be held on May 3 in Rickits Hall. Church cleaning arrangements were made for the next two months. * With Easter approaching a gift of flowers for the church would be greatly appreciated. New members are always welcome. * * * St. Patrick's Parish. The results of the Art Union in aid of the new Catholic Parish of Taupo, drawn on April 2, 1952, are as follows: — First prize, No. 745, Les Curtz. Second prize, No. 29, Mrs Fearnley. Third prize, No. 943, Mrs L. Matchett. Fourth prize, No. 712, Hana Rameka.
