TAUPO RETAINS LETT CUP

A cup presented by Mr Syd Lett for annual competitioii between Taupo and National Park was at stake when the National Park team arrived in Taupo on Sunday, March 30. Two matches are played each season, and the result of this fixture determined the possession of the cup for 1951-52. Taupo visited National Park earlier this year and were successful in returning the cup to Taupo on that occasion. A notable feature of the match was the return to form of G. A. Acres whose sound score of 75, including a six over mid-wicket, was a lesson to young- players in patience and timing'. This score equals the highest a Taupo batsman has achieved this season, that of W. J. McKean's effort against N. Coles Ltd. XI before Christmas. These two players are the old men of the team and their success proves the value of experience when in a tight spot, as both scores were made when the side was in difficulties. Taupo won by 107 runs in the first innings. Taupo, firdt innings: A. Forster, run out, 8; A. J. Collett, c Batey, b Bull, 0; G. A. Acres, c Callagher, b Bull, 75; I. Strange, b Bull, 5; J.
