ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

It was reported that the response from the Taupo district to the appeal of the St. John Ambulance Committee for subscriptions to meet the cost of running the Ambulance car has up to the present been disappointing. The proposal that has been put forward has been fully explained in these columns, and also in the circular forms distributed with . a previous edition of the

Times. The amount of the individual subscription i-s modest enough when the fact is faken into consideration that it represents an insurance guaranteeing free ambulance service in an emergency which individual ly wouujd be expensive at the usual mileage rate. It may be well to consider ways and means of organising a diligent canvass as a follow-up to the appeals already made. In a campaign of this kind the personal touch is all-important and positive action shouid not be too long delayed if results are to be satisfactory.
