JUNE ALLYSON'S RECIPE

How many times have you heard girls say about a movie star, "Well if I had her time and money, I could be beautiful too!" That's the kind or remark that gets nothing but an explosion from June Allyson. "Believe me," she says, "the average movie star spends less time and money on her so-called beaaty than most secretaries. But it is becau^o she takes the time to find out what is best for her skin and how to bring out her best features* rather than just going to a beauty parlour aact leaving :t entirely up to some-ore else!" I just don't have any pationce with girls who moan that they can't do a thing with their hair, or haven't the faintest idea what colour lipstick they should wear," she goes on. According to Miss Allyson, twenty minutes a day is plenty of time for hair and make-up — if you know what you're doing. "If you have a good skin," she crges, "dont cover it up with makeup. If your colour is good, you won't need any extra. Or, maybe some lipstick to compliment your eyes. Don't use foundation unless you want to cover up a blemish then blend it into the skin surrounding that area. Powder is necessary only to cover the shine, although the shine is more youthful than a mat finish. "Experiment, with the kind of make up that makes you look prettier; if you don't trust your judgement — although there is no better judge than yourself — ask your mother, your sister of better yet, your brother. He will probably be brutally frank, but at least you will get an honest answer. Miss Allyson says your work is half over after you have found the correct make-up. Your skill in applying it will come with practice and the longest it should take you is seven minutes — that's the time she allows herself. Your hair should not take more than another five minutes — that is if you've experimented, found the right, most becoming style for you. Unless your hair is naturally curly, a good permanent is a "must." You will spend less time fussing with your hair, and have a better looking coiffure. And what's more important, you will look your best. Which means your morale will take at least a fifty per cent. jump in the right direction.
