OBITUARY

The death is recorded of Dr Mick Veech (83), last of the sons of the family which founded1 Oakleigh station, Wellington, in 1828. Dr Veech praetised in Macquarie Street and at 'Molong. His son is Father Tom Veech of St. Patrick's College, Manly. D, Veech was a famous Rugby Union footballer of the early nineties and represented N.S.W. in the iorwards. When' a visiting AllMaori team, led by William Warbrick, was hit by influenza in Sydney, the Rugby Union permitted Warbrick to choose a local player of representative class to reinforce the Maori XV. Warbrick chose Mick Veech.
