Mr P. Kearins, M.P., paid a s'hort visit to Taupo recently, and met the members of the Taupo Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party. # * * A fire fanned by the heavy gale on Wednesday and Thursday evening last caused some concern at Hatepe (writes our Hatepe Correspon dent). Fortunately, the wind kept the conflagration on the hills, and it was kept under control by the State Forest Service. * * * In the list pablished last week oi recording stations equipped to weigh and measure fish, and receive diarien ' on behalf of the Government Hatchery under the system of marking trout now being followed, Mr H. B. Proctor's address was unfortun ately- misprinted. It should have read Braxmere Fishing Lodge, Tokaanu. * * * An editorial footnote to a letter published in last week's issue on the cubject of "Community 'Spirit" may have caused some puzzlement in the ninds of readers as the result of ^Progressive Association" being misprinted "Programme Asaiociation,:*" thus making the point obscure. * * * The Town Board road igrader, after a period of overhaul for its mechanical efficiency, was scheduled for duty on Wednesday last. Unfortunately the driver became ill, and the programme was temporarily disarranged. * * * * Through an inadvertent oversight the name of the author of the poem "Invitation," in our edition of March 19th., did not appear. It is due to Mrs E. Perry, to rectify her omission and express our appreciation of her oontribution.
