YE OLDE RUBBISH TIP
Eir, — Surely it is high time for something to be done about our Rubbish Tip. Of late the Fire Brigade has been turning out weekly — sometimes miore than once a week — to put out fires in or around the Tip. It would seem a very simple precaution to bulldoze a firebreak all around the dump, so that if someone throw-s h.ot ashes amongst the rubbish it could hurn away merrily with no hint of danger to the valuable properties in close proximity. I l^ave been informed, on good authority, that each time the Brigade turns out to these fires (which are totally unnecessary and not just a practice for the Fire Brigade as some seem to think), the cost involved is somewhat staggering. You and I, as ratepayers, pay that cost, incidentally, I would greatly appreciate a reply from some member of the Town Board as to why a firebreak has not been formed around this ever-pres-ent menace. The Tip is no longer a subjeet of humour — it has become a matter of serious importance. — I am,
etc.,
"SPA ROAD."
