TAUPO WINS ON FIRST INNINGS

Batting first, Reporoa made a fair start in their match against Taupo, their openlng pair. M. Brown and Syme putting 20 runs on the board before the first wicket fell. Of the remainder of the batsmen, only Retemeyer otfered any resistance. and the side completed its innings for 75. Loughlin was more expensive than usual. but he was always hostile, and when Toney was stumped by Patchett it took Loughlin's tally of wickets to 50 for the season. Collett went to the wicket with Forster for the first time since Cristmas. The pair put on 36 runs, but 4 wickets were down for 57. Loughlin and McKean. who have both been in good batting form in the last two or three matches, then added 55 for the 5th. wicket. Three well-timed pulls for six were included in Loughlin's score of 31, whilst McKean showed some neat driyefe to compile 29. The Taupo total of 120 left them the winners by 54 runs.
