Waitahanui.

Flight-lieutentant R. C. Nairn, A.F.C., D.F .M., of Lower Hutt, who was one of the pilots who parachuted to safety after a collision between two Vampire jet planes at Mangere last month has recently been staying at Lawrence's Fishing Lodge. He caught an 11! pound brown trout from a boat in the Lake, on his first attempt at fishing, and was naturally thrilled at the effort. His father has for years been an ardent fisherman. Two fish weighing a tctal of about nine pounds on one cast was the unusual catch of Mr R. Braddock of Waitahanui last week. One fish took the bait in the normal way, and the other had the rotten luck to get the line behind his gill and around his head. Presumably his 'sister' not wishing to go ashore upaccompanied, pulled the line tight and sealed her brother's fate.
