• gir, — At least "Broken iSpring" has the initiative to air his grievance in the "Times," but out of courtesy he might have sent in a suggestion to the Ratepayers' Association before calling that body to task.

Having attended all general meetings of the Ratepayers Association up to date, I konw that the attendance, apart from the inaugural meeting, has been a mere handful of twenty or so members. At the time of the first meeting there was a strong undercurrent of discontent amongst Taupo citizens concerning the handling of the Power Scheme at Hatepe, but it was evidently thought better not to raise this question at that meeting, which packed the local theatre; with the result that the wave of enthusiasm for a Ratepayers* Association has subsided almost as quickly as it developed. Surely a body, such as the ratepayers* Association, could voice the opinions and suggestion of ratepayers on a great variety of matters, and such a source of public opinion should be of considerable help to our Town Board members in carrying out their somewhat thankless tasks on behalf of the Community. I think the Ratepayers Association should receive every possible encouragement. • Its committee memmers, busy persons all, are prepared to work for the good of the Town, and I am sure that any suggestions made to them will receive not only support, but, where justified, action. — I am, etc.,
