"Wheat Is Politics!"

"Wheat is politics in New Zealand. My observations in your country lead me to this conclusion," said Mr Don Cooke, a visiting English farmer, a few days ago. "I am told," continued Mr Cooke, "that there is a shortage of wheat in your country. Well, a lessening in production in England was overcome by paying the farmer more for his wheat. We still grow 2,000,000 acres of it. I believe the New Zealand farmers gets about 10/ - a bushel. Well we in Engiand are paid 27/- a cwt. The moral is obvious."
