ZONE MATCH AT ORUANUI
A good tennis match was played by zone teams representing Tuwharetoa, Orua, Mokai, Maroa on the one side, and Arawa (zone 3), on the other, on the court at Mr T. Williams' residence, Puketarata, Oruanui. It was thoroughly enjoyed by a record crowd which came in from surrounding districts. Disappointment was felt at the non-appearance of Miss Hamiora, New Zealand Maori girl junior champion, a member of the visiting team, but never-the-less prominent players from Rotorua in the team played very bright and attractive tennis. However, credit must be given to our local players for the really able manner in which they played against their more experienced opponents, and without doubt, had the series been completed the match would have ended in a handsome victory for the local team. Weather conditions were ideal, and match arrangements were very good. Results. Sets played 23, out of 32. Tu Wharetoa 17 v. Arawa 6. Men's Singles. R. (Seymour 2 v. T. Nuri 7; S. Andrews 7 v. D.
