HAYES — DAVIS
Sweet peas and hydrangeas in pastel shades decorated the Presbyterian Church, Taradale, for the recent wedding of Nola, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Hayes, Puketapu, and Duffill, fourth son of Mr and Mrs George Davis, Taupo. The bride wore a gown of embossed ivory satin. The fitting bodice, with a petal neck-line, had long sleeves and the full skirt fell in soft folds to form a circular train. Her em. broidered tulle veil was held to the head by a coronet of flowers. A shower bouquet of carnations, gladiolii and sephanotis was carried. The matron of honour, Mrs H. Taylor, sister of the bride, wore a gown of apple green cloque,, and she carried a bouquet to match the flowers in her hair. The flower girl, Miss Anne Taylor .niece of the bride, wore a pastel pink nylon frock and carried a tiny basket of flowers. The best man was Mr Robert Davis, brother of the bridegroom. The wedding reception, which was followed by a dance, was held in the Labour Hall. Mrs Hayes ,mother of the bride, received the guests, wearing a navy and white frock, navy edge to edge coat, with accessories to tone. A saxe blue wool georgette tailored frock with ecru gloves, handbag and hat was worn by Mrs George Davis. The following guests from Taupo were present: The Misses M. Vedder, M. Martin and I. Miles; Mr R. Beale (toastmaster) ; Messrs L. Davis, P. McNicholas, L. Smith, G. Vedder, J. Burrows, M. Tiernby. The bride left on her honeymoon to Auckland wearing a floral jersey silk frock with white accessories.
