FIRE BRIGADE DANCE
SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL EVENT The dance in aid of the Taupo Volunteer Fire Brigade, held in Ricketts Hall on Saturday, February 23, and briefly noted in the Times last week, was a financial and a social success. The event attracted the biggest attendance at any similar event in Taupo for a considerable time. The hall was tastefully decorated with flowers and greenery. The winners of the spot waltz were Mr and Mrs O. Wright, and of the Monte Carlo, Miss V. Smith and Mr R. Armstrong. Among the ladies present were: — Mrs N. Clarke, tailored saxe blue crepe; Miss Yvonne Sharp, polka dot peasant blouse and navy skirt; Mrs Y. Morris, multi coloured floral Jersey silk; Mrs B. Wilson, figured dark saxe marocain; Mrs L. Sharp, black Canadian crepe; Mrs K. Russell, white off the shoulder blouse, blue & white striped skirt; Miss E. Hurst, chartruese with white lace; Mrs R. Dougles, white polka dot organdy; Mrs V. Wilson, cerise ninon over blue taffeta; Miss F. Miles, white and black floral crepe; Mrs B. Sinclair, ice blue Jersey mesh. Mrs 0. Wright, embroidered Swiss organdie blouse, black taffeta skirt; Mrs Yates, Parisian silk, with sunray skirt; Mrs R. Dawson, red and white pin striped linen; Miss A. Seymour, old rose marocain with Black trim; Miss V. Hayes, white satin striped taffeta; Mrs B. Collet, blue figured frock, black velvet straps and draped bow.

Storey, henna and grey patterned "cole" frock; Miss R. Anchor, white frock with blue floral pattern; Mrs Sutherland, tan crepe; Miss F. Shugar, navy and white skirt, peasant blouse; Mrs J. Dunlop (Auckland), carmine and white linen; Miss M. Vedder, pastel green net; Miss M. Rameka, figured "zukin" frock; Mrs P. Warbrick, bronze shantung; Mrs Dixon, ice blue floral taffeta; Mrs Ford, blue and white crepe; Mrs Fitzsimmons, sky blue linen; Miss Sophie Hemo, cream lace. Miss A. Holden, navy taffeta blouse and striped skirt; Mrs G. Chase, pastel blue shantung; Miss B. Walters, white embroidery on dusky pink linen; Mrs C. Baker, henna and white Canadian crepe; Mrs J. Dunne, floral silk; Miss C. Rameka, black crepe; Mrs B. Rimmer, flower patterned Jersey silk; Miss B. Rameka, pastel pink lace blouse with mauve moire taffeta skirt; Mrs D. Davis, Jersey silk with flowered pattern; Mrs T. Hill, Floral spun; Miss V. Houghton, white organza blouse and black marocain skirt,.
The recent christening of Vicki Colleen Flight, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Vic Flight (Motuopa), called for 5 o'clock celebrations at the Flight residence. Guests of honour were, Mrs C. K. Lane "Shangri La," Moturpa, and Mrs L. E. Spencer, Tauranga-Taupo (Godparents). Bright toasts were proposed and replied to. Other guests present, were Mrs R. Spencer and Mr Erroll Spencer, Tauranga - Taupo, Mr and and Mrs R. Savage (Lower Hutt), Mr and Mrs Kimi Hill (Hunterville), Mr and Mrs I. O'Callaghan (Wellington), Mr and Mrs G. Flight, Mr H. Davy (Wellington), Mr D. Davis (Wellington).
