Taupo Businessmen's Association
^ At a committee meeting of the Businessmen's Association held on February 20 th, Mr W. Stevens, committee chairman, presided over a full attendance with one unavoidable exception. It was reported that Mr N. A. Duthie had accepted the office of honorary auditor and Mr M. L. Svensen was appointed to the position of publicity offieer. As the association is now away to a very good start and much work is in piogress with a full year of activity ahead, a sub-committee has been formed for the purpose of inducing all business people to join the association and give it the whole hearted support that it seeks. A meeting of all confectioners is shortly being called for the purpose of discussing freight impositions and other difficulties in connection with the sale of their commodities. Retailers holidays for April were decided as follows: Easter: Closed Thursday and Good Friday. Open Saturday; closed Easter Monday. Anzac Day: Closed Thursday and Friday (25th); open Saturda^r. Considerable discussion took place on the necessity of having a creditmen's sub-committee to protect members of the business community in conducting their credit business. The matter will receive full considera- ' tion at next month's meeting. It was decided that the committee will meet on the second Tuesday of the month. General business covered many matters of a domestic nature including the election 'of delegates, advertising policy, welcoming of new business people,
