FISHING NOTES
A great exodus of visiting anglers has taken place and Turangi, which will be much quieter until Easter, when there will be the usual rush. Accommodation at the various lodges is booked out for that period. The quality of the fish is improving and some very well conditioned fish have been taken at the Delta, the Kuratau iMouth, and the Whareroa on the fly, while trolling has been very good in Stump Bay. Te Rangiita. — February 6. Fishing improved after the flood in the river. A limit bag was taken at the mouth by Mr Murdo McDonald, the heaviest weighing 6ilbs. Many slabs were caught yesterday but one bag of five fish taken in the river averaged 3|lbs. Trolling has been average. Dearstalkers returned after four days among the foothills of the Waimanawa range and fthey reported having shot quite a number of deer and also a few pigs. /
