Mr H. Holm has under construction in Kurupae Road for Dr. J. J. Faulkner, of Hastings, a holiday cottage of three rooms together with bafhroom and conveniences. Th;e ou.ter walls a.re of Durock sidlings, interiors lined with hardboard and the roof is of corrugated asbestos. A septic tank drainage system is being installed. * * * * Mr W. L. Haines has a new store in course of erection on the corner of Lake Terrace Road and the Napier Road, opposite the building at present occupied by him. The new store comprises sixteen hundred square feet and will face the junction of the roads mentioned. The floor-is to be tiled. iMessrs. Ford and Dixon are the builders. * * * * Messrs. Tuck Construction Co. Ltd., of Taupo, are erecting a sixroonred dwelling* for Mrs M. A. E. Ward at the corner of Roberts and Titiraupenga Streets. Walls are of weatherboard, interiors of fibrous plaster, and the house is L-shaped with all rooms opening off hall and passage. Water supply is from a 4000 gallon underground tank from whichr water will be pumped to a supply tank. * * * * ' Mr Harry Faulkner has had a hot water bore put down on his property on Lake Terrace Road, between the road and the Lake, not far from the Napier road turn-off. The well is four inches in diameter and was drilled by Messrs Sinclair and Yates Ltd., the depth being twenty-one feet. A pumping test carried out for several hours, showed that the output was two thousand gallons of water per hour at a temperature of 170 degrees Farenheit. The water will be used for a thermal bath. * * * * Mr K. Stovell of Hastings has bought Mr R. G. Tappenden's section and house on Lake Terrace Road, Waipahihi. * * * * Mrs J. Vietor Macky has sold her property in Waipahihi Avenue to Mr R. G. Tappenden, of Auckland. * * * Maori children often learn toride horses alniost before they can walk properly. Towards the latter end of the school holidays several of these could often be seen schooling their horses over low hurdles in the field alongside the road opposite the TeRangiita store. The exercise should be of great value in the training of a couple of young eolts who had no hesitation in following their parents over the fences. & * * It is not often nowadays that the tima-table regularity of the overland bus services to and from Taupo is interrupted by a break down en route. This happened to the south bound Rotorua - Wellington bus a mile and a half south of Turangi on Tuesday of last week. The hold up was caused by a fault in the ignition system, a burnt-out wire affecting the starter. To enfcbie ptassengers travelling south beyond Wellington to make the ferry . connection for Lyttelton, a special bus was sent over from Taihape, and left on the run to Wellington at 2 p.m., three hours fate. * * * Ratepayers are reminded of the general meeting of the Taupo Ratepayers' Association, to be held this Wednesday evening at Rickits Hall, at 8 p.m.
