HATEPE LETTER

; Hatepe, the popular holiday resort, on the Morehu E state, sixteen miles from Taupo, has, as usual had a large quota of visitors. In this picturesque corner of the Lake numerous holiday cottages have been erected. During the summer vacation the air resounded with the happy laughter of children, in this ideal spot, where fishing, boating and swimming combine to make a perfect holiday. An interesting event of the holiday season was the visit to Hatepe of a party of over fifty members of the Whakatere Tribe, from Shannon on Sunday, Jaunary 20th last. Mrs Robert Morehu, who belongs to Shannon, received the guests, who included many relatives and old friends, and entertained at her charming home on the Lake front. Among those present was Miss Rereahu Morehu, who was congratulated on her success in winning an important scholarship, and topping her form last year at Huarere College. Among the holiday-makers at Hatepe were Mr N Justice North, Mrs North, and their son, of Auckland; and Dr. North, Medical Suprintendent of the Palmerston North Hospital, with his wife and family. They have now returned to their respective homes. c Mr and Mrs W. Irwin and family have returned to Gisborne, after a holiday spent at Hatepe. Dr. and Mrs Gunn, of Gisborne, are now at their holiday home in Hatepe.
