TAUPO BOWLING CLUB
Various Matters Settled At a meeting of the Taupo Bowling Club held in Rickets Hall on Monday evening, January 21, various matters awaiting settlement were disposed of. Mr J. Swan, president, was in the chair. It was decided that the annual general meeting should be held on ! the first Monday of July next. In regard to the deeision of the meeting of Monday 7th., 1949 that the membership fees should be £3 4/- per annum, it was agreed, in view of the circumstances that the subscription should be fixed at £2 2/- up to the end of the present season. It was further agreed that there should be no charge for visitors to the green but that a collection box be installed for the receipt of gift donations. The elub's bank balance was reported to be in credit at £406 16/9, with assets estimated at £600 — a highly satisfactory position, as the chairman commented. Several nominations were put forward on behalf of new members. These were accepted. It was left to the chairman and secretary (Mr Baumberg), to arrange for a campaign to increase the membership. Appreciation was expressed by several speakers to the labour and services rendered to the club by Mr Pennyculk in the laying of the green and other work incidental to the provision of the club's amenities, and it was decided to s-end him a letter recording the feeling of the meeting. It was also decided that Mr Pennycuik should be appointed green superintendent, also honoured by a life membership. There was a brief discussion on the need for instructors for beginners, and Me's-srs McLean and Armstrong agreed to accept office as honorary coaches. It was agreed that the custom followed hitherto of borrowing hose-pip ing for watering the green was not satisfactory, and the treasurer (Continued on Page 5)

(Continued from Page 3). was authorised to purchase the length of hose required for the clubs exclusive use. A vote of thanks was recorded for the gift of a rose bowl by Mr and Mrs Milne, of Wanganui, as a games trophy. This is to be known as the Milne Rose Bowl. It was decided to insure the par-tially-completem vlub pavilion for £340*. ' Regular committee meetings are to be held in future ion the first Monday of each month. A working committee was set up, and arrangements were made for 3 teams to visit Rotorua. It was agreed that a notice should be inserted in the Taupo Times. announcing that the club was now open to receive members and sub-sc-riptions. This closed the proceedings.
