TAUPO HIGH SCHOOL

The new building at the Taupo School will probably be completed about the end of March, but Messrs A. Coley and Son, the builders, , expect to have one classroom ready for use by the High iSchool when the new term commences. Consisting of four classrooms, sick bay, common room and conveniences, the new building #is temporarily to house the High School, but later will probably be used for the primary school. The cost of ihe building is a little over £10,000. BUILDING ACTIVITIES Messrs Coley and Son have also commenced construction of a dwelling in Tamautu Street for Mr A. Fleming, comprising five rooms and usual offices, with separate garage. Exterior walls are of weatherboard, interior walls of fibrous plaster, and the roof is to he tiled. Septic tank drainage is to be installed. iMr L. Steen is building at Nukuhau an American type bungalow and garage for Mr F. Rutherford of Onewhero. A fine site has been chosen facing the lake at the top of the slope above the Waikato Outlet opposite the Taupo Wharf. Design is such that all rooms will have a view of the lake. In Taniwha Street Mr L. M. Ward has commenced work on a three bedroom house for Mr R. Casson, with lounge, kitchen, bath and shower rooms. The walls are stucco externally, fibrous plaster interally with roof of eorrugated metal covered with bituminous felt. Overlooking the lake there are brick veneer terraces with entrances open- , ing off. Mr Ward is also to build ^ for Mr L. R. Curtis, of New Plymouth, at the corner of Rahui, and Rokino Streets, a two bedroom dwelling with lounge, kitchen and all ^ conveniences. A Mr E. J. Arnold is erecting in Gillies Avenue a hoiiday cottage of 500 square feet for Dr Johns of Auckland. Durock sidings are used for exterior walls, and interior linings are of pinex and hard board. Messrs Smith and Fox are building a six roomed residence for Mr E. T. Smith at the corner of Spa Road and Taniwha Street, together with a detached garage. The plan provides for separate bath and shower rooms. The roof is tiled, walls are stucco and ihe interior linings of fibrous plaster. The same bu'lders are earying out additions to Mr Rich-White's residence at Waihaha, Western Bay, including installation of a die'sel powered. 230 volt lighting plant, which provides electric water heating as an auxiliary to an oil burning system. In Wheretia Street an attractive dwelling for Mr K. E. Young is nearing completion by Messrs L. and R. Davis. Floor space of 1,125 square feet provides five rooms and usual conveniences with a garage beneath. The roof is tiled, interior walls are of fGibralter board, and exterior walls are of vertical hattened weatherboard. i
