PROSPECTUS of A WEEKLY PAPER, TO BE ENTITLED THE TAURANGA AKGUS, AND OPOTIKI REPORTER. J^T is intended by the projectors, at the request of a largd portion of the business nien and agriculturalists i in and about Tauranga to fill a want long felt by the production of a Weekly Paper. In undertaking tbe arduous task of starting a journal bere, we are fully aware of the great responsibility we lay ourselves under. In Politics, we shall make it our study to place all questions of4 moment fully before U;A, public, and where the interests and prosperity of Tauranga are at ake we shall be found constantly at our post. Our
Local Institutions shall meet with attention, and we shall on all occasions endeavor to assist in their progress. We shall at all times be most happy to insert any communication with which we may be favored, although we will n hod ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed therein by our correspondents ; but all oommuulauono £-vr tho aier.cfit « of Tauranga will meet with especial attention, and personal eorrespondence, having a tendency to cause ill-feeling with the otber, will find no place in the columns or the Argus. It is intended that the Abgus shall contain all matters o? Loeal interest, viz., Shipping, Markets, Police, Meetings, Southern News, Auckland Shipping and Commercial, &c., which can be obtained up
to the hour of going to press, for securing which we have made ample provision. The great want felt of a cheap and respectable medium of advertising, which we flatter
ourselves tliis will fill, induces us to inser* advertisements at the following rates : — On( inch, thvee months, 30s. ; two inches, ditto, 40s. ; and so on, in proportion to the length of the advertisement. Auctioneers will be allowed the usual *discount. Advert iemns '■ for oue, three, or s'x months, as agree'd. , In conclusion, we trust, that our endeavors will meet with the asshta'nce and approbation of the Public of Tauranga and the surrounding districts.
