PROSPEGTUS of A WEEKLY PAPER, to bk entitlkd THE TAURANGA ARGUS, AND OPOTIKI REPORTER. Jj~T is intended by the projectors, at the request of a large portion of the business men and agriculturalists in and about Tauranga to fill a want long* felt by the production of a Weekly Paper. In undertaking the arduous task of starting a journal bere, we ara fully aware of the great responsibility we lay ourselves under. In Politics, we shall make it our study to place all questions of moment fully before the public, and where the interests and prosperity of Tauranga are at ake we snall be found constantly at our post. Our Local Institutions shall meet with attention, and we shall on all occasions endeavor to assist in their progress. We shall at all times he most happy to insert any communications with whieh we may be favored, although we will n hod ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed therein by our correspondents ; but all communicktions for the beneht f . of Tauranga will meet with ospecial attention, and personal correspondence, having a tendency to cause ill-feeling with the other, will find no place in the columr.s of the Argus. It is intended that the Abgus shall contain all matters o? Local interest, viz., Shipping, Markets, Police, Meetings, Southern News, Auckland Shipping and Commercial, &c., which can be obtained up to the hour of going to press, for securing which we have made ample provision. The great want felt of a cheap and respecta'ole medium of advertising, which we flatter ourselves this will fill, induces us to inser* advertisements at the following rates : — On(
inch, three months, 30s. ; two inches, ditto, 40s. ; and so on, in proportion to the length of the advertisement. Auctioneers will be allowed the usual discount. Adver ti emns for one, three, or six months, as agreed. In conclusion, we trust, that our endeavors will meet with the assistance and approbation of the Public of Tauranga and the surrounding districts. Having witnessed the success of similar publications, we throw ourselves entirely in your hands. Jobbing of all description done at Auckland prices. Subscription, 6s. 6d. a Quarter, paid is 'advance.
