Pity.
(To the.Editor of ino Tauranga Argus.) '"':T SiE, — A man of the narae of Edward Elliott, a foreigner, and a sailor belonging to Clyde schooner, was on Wednesday last admitted into our local Court House, which through the liumane consideration of our worthy magistrate, Mr. Clarke, was allowed to be used as o teraporary hospitai I jeave it sir, to aan abler pen than mine to ventilate the quest on of extreme want of feeling in the Military Hospitai authorities, who refused the poor unfortunate admittance ; but thank Heaven, Sir, we are not destitute of some good samaritans, who have not the terrible ordeal of the Horse Guards routine to Jnfiuence them to an act of mercy. Does o recollection of our Diviae Master's reproofarise to the minds of' ihe stern representativesof military jurisdiction. when they turn away from their hospitai doors a dying man, axid that man a foreigner ? who I think. should receive greater consideration on that very account. The patient is hourly visited by Df. Merritt, who has nobly and at a personal sacrffice of very valuable time, volunteered his able and kindly services.
