PROSPECTUS of A WEEKLY PAPER, to be entitled THE TAURANGA ARGUS, * A^TD OPOTIKI REPORTER. £T is intended by the projectors, at %the request of a large portion of the business men an,d agriculturalists in and about Tauranga to fill a want long felt by the production of a Weekly Pa.per. In undertaking the arduous ta s 1 starting a journal liere, we are fully aware of the great responsibility we lay ourselves under. In Politics, we shall make it our study to place all questions of moment fully before the public, and where tlie interests and prosperity of Tauranga are at ake we shall be found constantly at our post. Our Loeal Institutions shall meet with attention, and we shall on all occasions endeavor to assist in -their progress. We shall at »all times be most happy to insert any communications with which we may be favored, although we will n c ourselves responsible for the opinions exprfessed therein by our correspondentS ; but all communications for tbe benefit of Tauranga will meet with eppecial attention, and pevsonal correspondence, having a tendency to cause ill-feeling oe with the other, will find no place in the columns of the Akgus. It is intended* that the Abgus shall contaiu all matters of Local interest, viz,, Shipping, Markets, Poliee, Meetings, Southern News, Auckland Shipping and Commercial, &c., which can be obtained up to the liour of going to press, for securing which we liave made ample provision. The great want felt of a cheap and respectable medium of advertising, whieh we flatter ourselves this will fill, induces us to inser1advertisements at the following rates : — Or,( ineh, three months, 30s. ; two inclies, ditto, 40s. ; and so on, in proportion to fhe length of the advertisement. Auctioneers will be allovved the usual discount. Advertisem nts for oue, three, or six months, as agrped. In conelusion, we trust, that our endeavors will meet with the assistance and apjlrobation of tlie Public of Tauranga and the surrounding districts. Ilaving witnessed the success of similar publications, we throwi ourselves entirely in your hands. Jobbing of all description done at Auckland prices.
