London, December 9. Dr. Will Thorn declares that the Labour party will do its utmost to ensure the Government’s return. Alexander Ure declares that the man who votes for Tariff reform votes for discontinuation of the Old Age Pensions, inasmuch as the tariff will be inadequate to provide sufficent funds for the payment or pensionsJohn Redmond, Nationalist Leader, declares that not for 150 years has such an opportunity been offered in Ireland, and emphasis Lord Rose* bery’s and Lord Landsdowne s statement that the Peers veto is the only remaining obstacle to Home Rule. # Dr. Clifford has issued a mamfesto'appealing to the passive sisters to support the abolition of the House of Lords and veto the Navy League, impressing on all candidates the need of the two Power standard. Peers are addressing election meetings. Lords Camperdown and Kesterven have spoken against Lords Sheffield and Lyveden for the Government. _ Mr Balfour will shortly issue his manifesto. London, December 9. R. K. McKenna, First Lord of the Admiralty, in a speech at Farnworth said in his opinion Lancashire was the pivot of the political situation. If Palantine sent back the same stalwart band of Liberals the victory of the people would bo won. Lancashire had the reputation of thinking to day what England will think to-morrow.
C. F. A. Masterman, speaking at Hcrlesden, said he would support any candidate whether Liberal Labour, or Nationalist, provided he was with the people and against the Lards.
