Ohinemuri County Council

Paeroa, Thursday. The usual monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held this afternoon, Mr P. Grace presiding. Fifteen applications were received for the position of County Engineer, and it was decided to hold a special meeting of the Council next Tuesday to consider the applications. A resolution was passed urging the Government to push on the East Coast railway as expeditiously as possible from both ends. An application by the cinnabar syndicate (Mackaytown) for water power to drive a Pelton wheel was granted subject to the water being cut off at any time if required for domestic purposes. The Financo Committee’s report showed the overdraft to be £9791 15s 4 ( 3, the total indebtedness being £9915 4s.
