Daring Thieves
Berlin, November 11. Thb man Loedke, formerly a minor clerk in the Berlin Provincial Court, and Meyer, Cook and Warnicke, cyclists, went to the first civil court of Berlin about the hour at which the judges retire. They donned the judges robes and birettas, stolen from the Conference room, and installed themselves at a table in the records room where they examined documents showing moneys due to be advanced for litigant's costs. They next filled in •tamped forms necessary to secure payment. Meanwhile the attendants entering «nd imagining the judges were conferring, apologised and retired or were peremptorily ordered to quit the room. The plotter's immunity is due tto the multitude of judges and arbitrators being dressed alike. The trio collected £2OO sterling before the police, who acoidentiy got on their track, finally arrived.
