Methodist Sunday School Anniversary.

On Monday evening the Anniversary Servces in connection with the Methodist Sunday School were cont nued at 5 p.m. The children were provided with tea under the trees in the Church grounds, and at 6 p.m. the elder folk sat down to a repast in the schoolroom.

The public meeting was held in the church. An interesting and varied programme was gone through In addition to the special hymns, which were admirably rendered by choir and Sunday School, aided by the orchestra, under the able conductorship of Mr Sherlock, the following items were given : —Recita* tion, Mabel Sherlock ; duet, u Say a Kind Word,” Misses Ashby and Sherlock; two quartettes, the Misses Herbert and Messrs H. Herbert, and Cooper ; cornet duet, Messrs Donovan and Buchan ; recitation, Marjorie Patterson; solo, Mrs Ashby; humorous recitation, Rev. A. J. Reed ; solo, “ The Holy City,” Mr McCall.

At the conclusion the prizes were distributed to the children, and also the certificates won in connection with the Sunday School Union Ex* animations. First Boys’ Class.—Tom Ashy, 1; John Styles, 2; Robert Hampton, 3. Second Boys’ Class.—Norman O’Neil, 1; Kenneth O’Neil, 2 ; John Salt, 3. Third Boys’ Class.—Harold Ashby 1; Milton 3. First Girls’ Class.—lris Sherlock; Grace Given, 2; Ivy Sherlock, 3. Second Girls’ Class.—-Esther Salt, 1; Isa Frith, 2; Eileen Sherlock, 3. Third Girls’ Class.—Muriel Smith, 1; Ina Pilkington, 2 ; Mabel Sherlock, 3. The Secretary (Mr R. B. Seccombe) read the report and balance-sheet. Mr F. Hubbard (Superintendent) expressed thanks to all those who had helped. A very successful and enjoyable Anniversary was concluded with the Benediction.
