GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR’S REPORT

The Sisters of Mercy have received the following report from the Government inspector who examined their school on the 11th of October: — “ The grouping of the classes, the classification of the pupils and the general organisation of the school are all quite satisfactory. The time tables are quite suitable and the quality of the instruction and the methods of teaching are good. Satisfactory schemes of work have been prepared. The order and discipline of the school are excellent. The pupils are obedient and they show satisfactory diligence in dealing with their work. The manners and general behaviour of the pupils are excellent. The accommodation is ample and the cleanliness, tidiness of the rooms, and premises, the condition and sufficiency of school material and apparatus are very good. The books used are those authorised. With regard to the subjects of instruction according to the syllabus the compulsory subjects are good, the additional subjects generally satisfactory ; brush drawing and needlework are very good. The instruction of the preparatory classes is satisfactory, and the efficiency of the School is good.”— Signed, John Goodwin, Inspector.
