Manawaru Notes.
(From a Correspondent)
Things are much about the same in the milk and butter business here. The New Zealand Dairy Association Creamery has increased its supply to such an extent that larger separa < ' tors are being got. The milking machines running here are giving every satisfaction. It is about time that someone called a public meeting to see if something cannot be done to keep the roads clear of half-starved horses and cows. Some time ago our member in the Council said when this subject came up that everyone should fence. It is a pity he does not live next door to the offending party as he would have a different tale to tell. Complaints are loud and often about this beastly nuisance, and if not stopped trouble will ensue. The local schoolmaster (Mr J. J. Keany) deserves no stinted praise for the way in which he looks after his scholars. The school gardens are a picture, and both the schoolteachers’ residence and school would hold their own for neatness with any in the Dominion.
