Butter aid Cheese Market.

> Mjbsshs E. Gkikfiths and Company ’are in receipt of the following market report from their London Principals, Mills and Sparrow, dated 17th September, 1909, The weather has again been very showery, but temperature has risen considerably. Danish.—Has been officially advanced 3 kroner, the Northern markets are all very firm, and arrivals clear readily. Irish.—Both quality and quantity are falling off, but notwithstanding this, prices are a little higher. French.—-There is a good steady , demand, and no further alterations in price have been made. This butter now shows very good value in comparison with other sorts. We expect the supply will fall off considerably after this month is out, and we must then look for higher values. Siberian.— Arrivals this week have been much larger than last, totalling in all 13,000 casks, so it is evident that the shortage last week was caused through some butters not arriving at the ports in time for shipment. The demand has been very good for finest and there is a rise of about 2s per cwt. the week on this grade, but there is no advance to report on seconds. Colonial.—Buyers are now beginning to show.more interest and there has • been quite a fair trade passing this week In stored goods, which have been sold from 106 sto 112 s. Cable advices to band report a shipment of about 9,000 boxes this . week per s.s. “ Morea,” 6,000 of which-iwe understand is from Melbourne, and the balance would be made up from Sydney and Adelaide. No doubt this will be nearly all new season’s butter, and this advice is very welcome. They should meet an excellent market.

/ Cheese. Canadian.—Trade this week has been very slow and prices are in buyers’ favour. ' New Zealand Cheese.—The cheese ex " Wakanui ” have not sold very readily, partly on account of their turning out rather soft, and partly owing to slow trade. Tie s.s. “ Kaikoura ”is now due, carrying a few cheese, and we hope they will arrive in better condition than those ex s.s. “ Wakanui.”
