FIRST CASE AT HOME.

“ KATHLEEN MAVOURNEEN ” SENTENCE.

London, September 29. A man was sentenced at Folkstone to three years’ penal servitude and detention for a further period of five years as a habitual criminal. The charge waspne of stealing. This is the first case under the provision of the Crimes Act.

(This law has been in operation in New Zealand for some time, and a great deterrent)
