Waitoa Drainage Board.

Yet another meeting of the above Board has taken place and very little —if any business—resulted. Messrs M. Henry (Chairman), H. Makgill, T. Bel--1 uiiy, and R. Matheson put in an appe trance, but Mr Corrigan’s chair was a rain vacant.' As several very important nutters are to bejdecided, it is imperative that afull Board be present. This was. the opinion of the members and it was decided to adjourn the meeting for one week, in order to allow Mr Corrigan to be present. A sort of informal discussion took place prior to the reading of the minutes, when Ithe question of the Engineers claim of £260 and their threat to take legal proceedings was once again dealt with. A good deal was said as to work done, and who ordered it, etc., resulted. While one section of the Board contended that the Board never authorised any work on Nos. 1 and 7 Roads. The other argued 'in the affirmative. But records were hunted up and in the minutes of April 14th, at which Messrs Henry, Bel lamy, Matheson. and Makgill, were in attendance the following resolution appeared : • “ Proposed by Mr Henry and seconded by Mr Matheson, that the engineers be (requested) instructed to complete the work of surveying drains between Eastport Road and Waitoa River, also old main outlet-drain, and also any uncompleted work on Nos. 1 and 7 Road drains, and. that the Chairman’s action in promising Mr Breakell levels offsets to out • let drain through Crown lands to Piako River be upheld.” It was ultimately agreed to adjourn the meeting.
