(To the Editor )
Sir,—l notice by your advertising columns that we have two candidates out for a sent on the Borough Council. Both of these aspirants have already been tried and found wanting. Cannot we get some other gentleman to contest the seat. Surely there must be plenty oflable men who could be prevailed upon to allow themselves to be nominated. I could mention quite a few who, although untried on local bodies, would make splendid Councillors. One gentleman, who seeks support from the Burgesses of Te Aroha, has already I understand put the ratepayers to some considerable expense on account of his retHog before his term of office expired, and yet this same gentleman asks support at the forthcoming election.- What guarantee have we that he will net again retire, if elected? Hoping that we will have some more able candidate out before nominations close.—-I am, etc., Te Aroha.
