THE PROPOSED CARNIVAL.
(To the Editor) Sir, —In theTe Aroha News of August 31st appeared a letter upon the subject “ The ~ Proposed “ Carnival.” The writer of the letter referred to the fact that at the meeting held to diccuss the possibility of holding a carnival, Mr T. Donovan expressed surprise that the Choral Society had not foregone its practice and attended the meeting, etc., etc. We wish to state that the letter referred to was not vmtten by any official member of the Choral Society. The Executive of the Society knows that Mr Donovan did not choose the night of meeting. The letter was not of a nature to help the Carnival, or the Choral Society, or to serve any purpose but that of arousing suspicion as to its writer. Had. the Choral Society deemed it nesessaiy to publicly protest against anything said, or done, by Mr Donovan, the means chosen would not have been those of an anonymous newspaper letter. < -We are, etc., Wx.
