Calcutta, August 8. Tue Indian Budget shows a deficit of millions instead of an expected surplus of half a million. The deficit is cbieflv due to lower receipts on the railways and heavier working expenses. The master of Elibank warned Indian agitators of the Government’s deliberate intention to maintain order and remove them if necessary from a sphere of activity. Indian newspapors strongly commend this declaration and the Government’s firmness. Extremists endeavoured to introduce seditious propaganda into the Native States. The Mahai a Jah of Gwalior, is determined to crush tbo movement at the onset, and 35 agitators were arrested ai d tried and four sentenced to seven year f, and 28 to shorter terms of imprisonment.
